Revolut Rev Points

Maximize Your Travel Rewards with Revolut’s New Air Miles Programme that lauched in July.

If you love to travel and are always looking for ways to maximize your rewards, Revolut's latest release is just what you need. Revolut now offers a program called Rev Points, that allows you to collect air miles (and other rewards), making your everyday spending more rewarding than ever. Here’s everything you need to know about this new feature and my own personal review since I am an avid user of Revolut and love it for banking and traveling. Especially with the cost of living these days, any help with being able to afford travel is amazing (Very aware how much of a privilege is it is to be able to travel regularly).

How the RevPoints Works

Revolut’s RevPoints program is tiered based on the plan you choose. Here’s a breakdown depending on what plan you use or may be considering:

  • Ultra Plan: Earn 1 point for every €1 spent
  • Metal Plan: Earn 1 point for every €2 spent
  • Premium Plan: Earn 1 point for every €4 spent
  • Plus Plan: Earn 1 point for every €10 spent

Unfortunately at this time, from my research online there is no option to collect RevPoints on the free plan. I get that though since it is a premium feature that can turn into savings long-term. These points, known as RevPoints, can be redeemed for a variety of rewards, including travel discounts, stays, and my personal favourite, air miles (Eg. AerClub and British Airways).

Converting RevPoints to Air Miles

One of the best features of this program is the ability to convert your RevPoints directly into air miles. The highly favorable conversion rate allows you to get the most out of your points. Love this, as it is an excellent option if you frequently use your Revolut card, especially since Revolut holds a banking license in Ireland, ensuring your money is protected up to €100,000. You would need to check to see if it has a banking licence in other countries, since I am speaking from the perspective of an Irish customer.

Boost Your Points with In-App Challenges

Revolut offers several ways to boost your points. One popular method is through in-app challenges, such as meeting a budget goal. Additionally, you can use the spare change feature to save on RevPoints. For every euro saved through rounding up your purchases, you earn 50 points. This can be especially advantageous if you regularly make small purchases, as these points can add up quickly.

I use the spare change option because the value of air miles is worth it for me and what I am looking to get out of a program like this. By rounding up my purchases, I accumulate points that I wouldn’t have otherwise, making my travels even more affordable.

Who Benefits Most?

This program is particularly beneficial for frequent travellers who are already using Revolut or considering switching to it. Not many banks in Ireland offer such competitive deals for collecting air miles. While the Bank of Ireland’s Aer Lingus credit card is a competitor, it’s important to note that Revolut’s program is based on using a debit card, which can be a more appealing option for many users.

*Should only be utilising a credit card for points like air miles if you have the ability to pay it off each month, otherwise the cost of interest may outweigh the benefits that the card offers.

Revolut’s new air miles program is a game-changer for frequent travellers like myself, and a disruptor in my opinion, for people banking here in Ireland. With the ability to earn points through everyday spending and various ways to boost your balance, this program offers something that Irish customers have been asking for, for the longest time. Whether you’re on the Ultra, Metal, or Premium plan, there’s a way for everyone to maximize their travel rewards with Revolut.

If you haven’t yet switched to Revolut, now might be the perfect time to do so and start reaping the benefits of RevPoints and all the other features that Revolut offers. Happy travels!
